When U.S. President Harry Truman declared the end of the war with Japan on August 14, 1945, there were spontaneous acts of joy throughout the United States. In Times Square, a sailor grabbed a nurse and gave her a big kiss. Captured on film by both u.s. navy photojournalists Victor Jorgensen and Alfred Eisenstaedt is the inspiration for this bookmark. The bookmark is finished in solid brass, electro-plated with a non-tarnishing silver finish, and a Giclee print. Bookmark dimensions: approx. 1.75-inch width x 3.75-inch length packaged in an acetate sleeve with a provenance card.
