The Ford Tri-Motor has a long history in the Shores & Island region. Island Airlines, operated from the Port Clinton Airport and served the islands of Lake Erie as "The World's Shortest Airline."  Residents and visitors of the island depended on the airline for mail, supplies, transportation, ambulance service, and many other services. The "Tin Goose" flew the island route for almost 50 years, from the 1930's until the 1980's.
