In 1936 Milton Hersberger acquired the first seven Ford Tri-Motor airplanes that had retired from service with major airlines. The Fords, based at Put-in-Bay, transported passengers and freight to the western Lake Erie islands for almost fifty years. Their rich history evokes many fond memories for islanders and visitors alike.
